Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has been banned for two matches for his red card against Las Palmas earlier this week.

The Wales forward was shown two yellow cards within 10 minutes of each other in the second half of the 3-3 La Liga draw on Wednesday.

For his dismissal, Bale hacked at the legs of Jonathan Viera, who then pushed Bale after being awarded a foul before Bale then shoved him away with both hands.

Bale, who insisted he did not deserve the red, has also been fined £517 for what is his second dismissal in his career and first since joining Real in 2013.

The Spanish Football Association announced his ban on Friday and it will come as a blow to a player who only recently returned from a three-month injury lay-off.
