Marco Verratti's agent says the midfielder may need to leave Paris Saint-Germain to win major trophies but insists he would only depart for a "top European club".
The Italian moved to the Parc des Princes from Pescara in 2012 and has won four Ligue 1 titles, but the reigning French champions are three points behind a rejuvenated Monaco this term and crashed out of the Champions League in the last 16 after a 6-1 second-leg defeat to Barcelona.
Verratti is under contract with PSG until 2021 but has been linked with a move to a host of clubs in Europe, and his agent Donato Di Campli believes the 24-year-old may soon have to consider making a switch in order to win major silverware.
"It's a complicated situation, because he has a good contract there," Di Campli told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "But he wants to win things and PSG, in the state they're in now, cannot win things.
"He's been in Paris for five years and now has to ask himself some big questions: should he carry on earning a lot without winning, or leave to become a champion?
"It's not a question of money - anyone who would take Verratti would pay him a lot - and one thing is sure... if he leaves PSG, it will be for a top European club."
