Anthony Stokes has left Hibernian by mutual consent after just six months of his third spell at the club.
Stokes, 29, was disciplined by the club after an incident during the club's winter break to Portugal and manager Neil Lennon had suggested his future was in doubt.
The Irishman has been left out Lennon's three match-day squads so far in 2018.
The striker has scored 11 goals since rejoining the Scottish Premiership side on a two-year deal in August 2017 - having made 92 appearances for the club over three separate spells, scoring 44 goals.
Hibernian have already added to their attacking options during the January window, adding Australian Jamies McLaren on loan from German second-tier side SV Darmstadt 98.
While Switzerland striker Florian Kamberi has also joined on a loan deal from Grasshoppers of Zurich, subject to international clearance.
