Saturday 29 April 2017 18:32, UK
St Mirren boosted their Scottish Championship survival hopes with an emphatic 5-0 victory over fellow strugglers Raith Rovers at Paisley 2021 Stadium.
Stevie Mallan scored twice for the hosts, with further strikes from Rory Loy and Lewis Morgan and an own-goal from Declan McManus securing a comfortable win.
The win sees the Buddies leapfrog Raith in the table, climbing to eighth, and they could climb as high as seventh depending on Dumbarton's result against Dundee United in the evening kick-off.
Ayr United remain rooted to the foot of the table, three points below Raith Rovers, after losing 4-0 at home to champions Hibernian.
Jason Cummings struck twice for Neil Lennon's side with Martin Boyle and James Keatings also on the scoresheet.
