Lincoln City will play at Wembley for the first time in their history after beating Chelsea's under 21's on penalties to reach the final of the Checkatrade Trophy.

Lincoln City made it to Wembley for the first time in their history after beating Chelsea U21s on penalties in the semi-finals of the Checkatrade Trophy.

Luke Waterfall gave the Imps the lead after 72 minutes at Sincil Bank but Daishawn Redan responded swiftly for the Blues to make it 1-1 and send the game to a shootout.

Sam Habergham saw his penalty hit the bar as Chelsea gained the advantage but Ethan Ampadu hit the post and Ryan Allsop saved Jacob Maddox's effort as Lincoln eventually won 4-2.

The victory sparked wild scenes among the home support, with many running onto the pitch to celebrate their first trip to Wembley in their 133-year history.

Elsewhere, Yeovil made it into the semi-finals of the competition after beating Sky Bet League One Fleetwood 3-2 in their rearranged quarter-final.

Cian Bolger struck early for Fleetwood before levelling the game with an own goal in the 23rd minute, while Corey Whelan then struck shortly after the break to put League Two Yeovil 2-1 up.
