Federico Fernandez has signed a new contract committing his future to Swansea until the summer of 2020.
Fernandez was inside the final 18 months of his previous deal, signed when he arrived from Napoli in 2014.
But Swansea rejected a January offer from an unnamed club for the Argentine centre-half, who has started every game of Paul Clement's short reign.
"Since the boss came in, we have been more organised," Fernandez told the club's official website. "His ideas in training are very clear.
"We have taken that on board. We have talked a lot about staying compact to try to make sure we don't concede. We are getting better and better I think.
"It's a very nice period for me. It has been good for the team because the results and the performances have been better, and to sign a new deal is something special and something positive for me.
"When I first arrived here, I found a really nice club a nice city. My family are very happy here. My little girl was born in Singleton Hospital and part of my life is here because I have been here for almost three years.
"I am happy with the football and in my private life. The new contract helps me because it shows I have confidence of the club. Now I am looking forward to the future."
Swansea have won four of their six Premier League games since Clement's appointment but face a test of their improved form this weekend when they go to leaders Chelsea.
