Leeds have signed former Newcastle United midfielder Vurnon Anita on a three-year contract.

The defensive midfielder becomes Leeds' sixth signing of the summer, after Felix Wiedwald, Mateusz Klich, Hadi Sacko, Pontus Jansson and Madger Gomes completed moves to Elland Road.

After spending seven seasons at Ajax, Anita joined Newcastle in the summer of 2012 and went on to make 157 appearances for the club.

The Dutchman also played 27 times for Rafa Benitez's side last season and helped them secure promotion from the Sky Bet Championship.
