Hull have made an approach to Bristol City for their striker Jonathan Kodjia, Sky sources understand.
Negotiations between the clubs are understood to be ongoing, and Derby County are monitoring the situation themselves with an interest in the player.
Kodjia, 26, is a newly-capped Ivory Coast international who scored 20 goals in 52 appearances for Bristol City last season.
Kodjia joined the West Country club from French side Angers last summer in a £2m deal.
Hull have left it considerably late in the window to bolster their squad but, after a promising start in the Premier League of two wins and a narrow defeat to Manchester United, the club have begun to act.
