Darnell Furlong has signed a contract extension at Queens Park Rangers, keeping him in west London until the summer of 2019.

The defender, who joined QPR as a trainee in 2014, is back at Loftus Road following a loan spell at Swindon.

The 21-year-old started both of the club's last two Championship games against Reading and Fulham, and is happy with the new deal.

He told the club website: "It's a massive boost for me personally and a fresh chance. I've really enjoyed the last few weeks and it's given me a taste of first team football at QPR. I've signed this new deal and I can really focus on kicking on."

With regards to manager Ian Holloway, Furlong added: "He's really helped fill me with confidence, and for any young player that's a massive thing. He's given me a freedom to express myself."
