Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer says he really wants striker Christian Benteke to stay after speculation over his future

Christian Benteke is happy at Crystal Palace and the club have no plans to sell him, according to manager Frank de Boer.

Reports towards the end of the season claimed the striker was considering leaving at the close of the last campaign, while national newspapers have also reported recent interest in the player from Chelsea and Everton.

Benteke, who arrived from Liverpool last summer for a club-record fee of £27m, insisted the departure of previous manager Sam Allardyce would not affect his motivation to remain at Selhurst Park, and newly appointed successor De Boer has no plans to let the 26-year-old leave.

"The only thing I know is that he [Benteke] is happy here and I really want him to stay here," said De Boer.

"He had a great impact last season, especially in the second half of the season. He's crucial for us and we definitely don't want to see him go."

De Boer also confirmed the deal to sign Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald has not been completed yet.

He said: "I heard it's not done, it's a possibility, very good possibility for us. I know Jairo very well but it's not done."
