Darren Moore is close to being named manager of West Brom on a permanent basis, Sky Sports News understands.
The former West Brom defender was unable to save the Baggies from relegation to the Championship, after taking charge on a caretaker basis towards the end of the season with the club 10 points adrift of safety.
But the 44-year-old made a big impact and was named Premier League manager of the month for April after masterminding wins against Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle and a draw with Liverpool.
West Brom chief executive Mark Jenkins flew to China on Monday to present his choice for the club's new manager to owner Guochuan Lai, Sky Sports News understands.
The Baggies had been in the Premier League since the 2010/11 season and finished 10th in 2016/17 under Tony Pulis.
But Pulis then lost his job in November after a run of 10 Premier League games without a win and his replacement Alan Pardew was unable to lead the side to safety.
And Pardew then lost his job at the start of April, after eight defeats in a row left West Brom bottom of the table.
