On-loan midfielder Robin Shroot is relishing the chance to work with Cheltenham boss Mark Yates after extending his stay at Whaddon Road until January. The young winger initially joined on an emergency loan from Birmingham City and made his debut for the Robins in the final few minutes of their 3-2 win over Crewe last Saturday. He revealed that working with Yates, and joining a club which play an exciting brand of passing football, made his decision to join the League Two club an easy one. "I'm delighted to be here and Mark Yates is a good guy and a great manager, so I'm looking forward to working with him," Shroot told skysports.com. "We had a couple of games behind closed doors against his sides last season and I always tried to have a chat with him because I knew he had a good knowledge of the non-league game. We always got on well and I have a lot of respect for him as a coach. "I tried to come here on loan last season because I really wanted to play for him, but it didn't work out. Luckily I've been given the opportunity to do it this season instead. "The manager wants us to play good football and he inspires players to go out and play with a lot of confidence, especially when on the ball. "Some managers prefer to play a more direct style instead, which does sometimes work, but players prefer to play the game in the right way by getting the ball down and playing a passing game. "That suits my game a lot and he installs a lot of belief into the players here. He tells us to get on the ball and try to do things and even if we make a mistake when trying to something positive he will back you all the way."
