West Ham have rejected a third offer from Marseille for Dimitri Payet worth around £22.5m, according to Sky sources.
A source close to the French club's president claims the bid, which Marseille believe is significant, was made in pounds sterling.
West Ham, who value the player at £30m and have turned down two previous offers, consider the latest approach unacceptable.
Payet has made it clear he wants to return to Marseille for family reasons and continues to train with the Hammers' U23 squad.
The 29-year-old cost £10.75m when he arrived in the summer of 2015 and signed a new long-term contract in February last year.

West Ham have won back-to-back Premier League games without their France international, who was the club's player of the season last year.
He has scored 15 goals in 60 appearances for West Ham and was rewarded with a new five-and-a-half year deal last February.
