Fulham are in talks with Cardiff City to sign their left-back Joe Bennett, Sky Sports News understands.
The Whites have needed another left-back since selling Scott Malone to Premier League newcomers Huddersfield for £5m earlier this summer.
Fulham brought Malone in from Cardiff last summer in a deal that saw Jazz Richards move Wales in the opposite direction, and they now want Bennett - a 27-year-old former England U21 - despite agreeing a deal with Bordeaux to sign Maxime Poundje.
Sky Sports News understands the Poundje deal was agreed alongside a separate £5m agreement for striker Diego Rolan, who has not been keen on a switch to Craven Cottage despite visiting the training ground.
Bennett has made 27 appearances and scored three goals for the Bluebirds since signing on a free transfer from Aston Villa in the summer of 2016.
Cardiff boss Neil Warnock said last month that he expected more movement in his squad "at the end of August when people start panicking after two or three bad results".
Fulham are yet to win from their opening two Sky Bet Championship games, drawing with Norwich and Reading.
On new additions, Warnock said: "No more in, not unless something happens. You never know in football but I'm happy with my squad."
