Kevin De Bruyne will return to Manchester City for treatment on the groin injury picked up on Belgium duty, Sky Sports News HQ understands.
The 25-year-old missed his country's 1-1 World Cup Qualifying draw against Greece on Saturday, watching instead from the stands in Brussels.
De Bruyne was seen leaving the King Baudouin Stadium in his agent's car and it is thought he will not travel to Russia for Belgium's friendly on Tuesday.
The forward was considered a doubt after picking up the knock in training, and missed the Group H clash along with Eden Hazard and Thomas Meunier.
Hazard pulled out on Monday with a calf problem, while an ankle injury has ruled out Paris Saint-Germain's Meunier.
Though Belgium boss Roberto Martinez indicated the De Bruyne injury is "not serious", he admitted it would be a blow to be without him, labelling him a "key player".
De Bruyne's is now a doubt for City's next game against top-four rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on April 2, live on Sky Sports 1 HD.
