Aston Villa fail to agree terms with £20m Abel Hernandez - Sky sources

Aston Villa's pursuit of Hull City striker Abel Hernandez appears to be over after the two parties failed to agree personal terms, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News HQ understands Villa bid £20m - which would have been a Championship record had it gone through - for Hernandez

The Midlands club remain keen to bolster their squad ahead of Wednesday's looming transfer deadline and have now turned their attention to Bristol City's Jonathan Kodjia. 

Hernandez, 26, was prolific as Hull were promoted from the Championship last season, scoring 22 goals, and he has scored one for the Tigers in the Premier League so far this season.

Sky sources understand the Humberside club are close to signing Will Keane in a £1m deal from Manchester United.

In midfield, Hull are trying to sign Derby midfielder Jeff Hendrick and Tottenham's Ryan Mason, after a strong start to the season with two victories and a defeat to United from three games.
