Tottenham's Heung-Min Son will undergo surgery on his right forearm on Friday.
The South Korea international, who scored 21 goals for Spurs last season, sustained a fracture during his national team's 3-2 World Cup qualifying defeat against Qatar on Tuesday.
He was substituted in the 34th minute in Doha after landing awkwardly following an aerial challenge with Qatar's Mohammed Musa.
Tottenham released a statement on their website on Thursday afternoon confirming Son needs an operation following further assessment and scans. The 24-year-old will continue to be monitored by the club's medical staff ahead of a return to action next season.
Mauricio Pochettino's side return for pre-season training on July 3. They then head for a 10-day tour of America, with the first game on July 22, before beginning their Premier League campaign with a trip to Newcastle on August 12.
