Mauricio Pochettino does not care about Tottenham finishing above Arsenal

Mauricio Pochettino insists he is not concerned about finishing above Arsenal because he is hell-bent on winning the Premier League.

Spurs go into what could be the last north London derby at White Hart Lane, live on Sky Sports 1HD on Nissan Super Sunday, four points behind leaders Chelsea with five games to go.

Victory will ensure Tottenham finish above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years but Pochettino is single-minded in his pursuit of Chelsea and a first league title since 1961.

He said: "I understand (the fans want to finish above Arsenal) but I am so honest, and my feeling is now we are so close, only four points, which is massive with only five games to play, but I will be very disappointed if we don't win the title.

"At that moment I will start to think about all the good things this season and be realistic to analyse the season. But I really don't think about which position Arsenal are in. My view and focus is to try to win every game and try to win the Premier League.

"For me (finishing above Arsenal) is not a motivation. The motivation for me is to win because it's a derby and I know what it means to win a derby. My motivation is to try to win some titles with Tottenham, and my players improve every day and show we are better than the opposition."

It's a heavyweight week of action this week on Sky Sports with three huge Premier League games

Spurs play after Chelsea, who are also on Super Sunday against Everton on Sky Sports 1HD, and Pochettino believes their away win at Crystal Palace this week has shown that his team have the right mentality to battle the Blues until the final day.

"We learned after the FA Cup semi-final defeat that there is a lot of question marks about our performance and then our performance against Crystal Palace was fantastic. They can be disappointed in some games but never give up and fight.

"You cannot ignore the (Chelsea) game. But it's true against Palace we played the day after Chelsea and it didn't affect our preparation. That is the maturity we got from last season. We learn a lot, we improve a lot, and now we are focussed on winning games."
