Arsene Wenger will sign a new contract at Arsenal and needs to change "many things" to take the club forward, according to Robert Pires.

The Gunners boss has yet to publicly announce whether he will sign a new deal having admitted before the international break that he has made up his mind.

Arsenal have lost six of their last nine matches which has seen them eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16 stage and left facing a battle to finish in the top four of the Premier League, which has sparked protests from fans.

But former midfielder Pires, who works as a coach at the club's training centre in Hertfordshire, believes Wenger will extend his stay in order to rebuild the squad which last win the Premier League in 2004.
