Chelsea striker Diego Costa could face a race against time to be fit for the start of the Premier League season after being forced to miss Sunday’s Community Shield against Arsenal.
Costa was omitted from the Blues' matchday squad with what boss Jose Mourinho described as "discomfort in his hamstring".
The Spain international was expected to play some part against Arsenal but Mourinho revealed he "was not feeling good".
"Two days ago he was ready to play," he said. "When I told you two days ago he was ready to play he was ready to play. He trained normally on Friday and yesterday at the end of the training session he said he was not feeling good.
"But (Radamel) Falcao will have had a bit more football, he will play against Fiorentina from the start. We have (Loic) Remy too, so if we don’t have Diego I am happy with the strikers I have."
Costa joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in a £26.5m deal last summer.
Despite straining his hamstring on a number of occasions last term, Costa scored 20 Premier League goals as he won the title in his first season in England.
