Bastian Schweinsteiger believes Manchester United already have a squad capable of challenging for trophies this season.
The Germany skipper joined up with his new United team-mates less than two weeks ago, just before the squad flew out for their pre-season tour of the United States.
However, he has already been impressed with what he has seen in training and in the team's 1-0 win over Club America at the weekend.
"I have to say the quality (of the squad) is huge," Schweinsteiger told United's official website. "I am sure with this team, it is possible to win titles and after a week I can say that.
"We have a good defence, we have good defensive players, and we have quality players who can make the difference in high-level matches.
"There are some guys who will come later, so I think this team has a lot of possibilities and qualities."
The former Bayern Munich midfielder, who won eight Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions League with the German side, also echoed manager Louis van Gaal's praise for Wayne Rooney.
The United boss hailed Rooney as a "great captain", a feeling shared by Schweinsteiger.
He said: "Absolutely, for me it a big honour to play in the same team as him. He is a leader, you can see that.
"He is a fighter, he is a striker, he is everything. I know that. It was also a reason to come here, to play with this kind of player."
