Real Sociedad manager David Moyes insists new Chelsea signing Pedro must be given time to adapt to the differences between Spanish and English football.
Chelsea confirmed the signing of the Barcelona forward on Thursday in a deal that could rise to £21.4m.
And speaking exclusively to Sky Sports News, former Manchester United and Everton boss Moyes says while Pedro adds more quality to the Premier League, the physicality will take getting used to.
He said: "I think it can take time for these players to settle, and they must be given the opportunity to do that.
"The football in Spain is completely different than in England due to contact being much greater than it is here.
"I think Pedro coming into the Premier League will add to the quality that the league has got. It has a lot of great players, and Pedro is certainly one."
Moyes' Sociedad finished 12th last term having been 15th when he took over in November, but the Scot is aiming for a return to European football despite the expectation of the most competitive La Liga season in recent years.
"The first thing to do was make sure we were safe, in a stable position," he said.
"But we want to try to get back to those days of challenging for the European spots."
La Real kick off their campaign at Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday, live on Sky Sports 3 from 5.25pm.
For the first time, Sky Sports will show more than 300 live games from La Liga, with a comprehensive Spanish football offering across its platforms, kicking off with Malaga v Sevilla on Friday from 7.25pm on Sky Sports 3 - and also streamed on skysports.com.
