Toby Alderweireld says no news on Tottenham contract position

Toby Alderweireld says there is no update on talks over a new contract at Tottenham as the new season approaches.
Alderweireld was one of Spurs' defensive stars last season, when they finished second in the Premier League, and last month he rejected claims he had turned down a contract offer from the club.
The Belgium defender is under contract until the summer of 2019 and Sky sources reported as far back as last December that he would be sitting down with the club to talk about fresh terms.
But he could now kick off the 2017-18 season playing under the same terms he agreed when joining from Atletico Madrid in 2015.
That contract contains a clause that says if Spurs trigger a year-long extension in 2019 Alderweireld can leave for a fee of £25m, and the club want to eradicate this clause from any new deal

"No news that I know of so nothing...zero," Alderweireld told Sky Sports News before Tottenham's International Champions Cup clash with Manchester City in Nashville.
Spurs are in the United States finishing off their preparations for the new season, when they will look to go one better than last season's Premier League-best performance.
"We've said a lot of times we have a young squad who wants to develop themselves and we have another season under the belt so now we can try to improve ourselves and even play better," he added.
"We're training very hard to get into the right condition to play games and win competitions - everything is going well and this is what pre-season is all about."
Spurs come up against Kyle Walker in Tennessee, with the right-back having left the club to join City in a £50m deal earlier this month.
Alderweireld says the squad would have loved Walker to stay in north London, but feels they just have to move on and concentrate on their own performances, starting on Saturday evening.
He said: "Everybody is sad that he left. He is one of the best full-backs in the world and unfortunately he goes to another [Premier League] team, but we have to focus ourselves to win the game."
