Stuart Pearce's footballing comeback has been put on hold due to a waterlogged pitch.
The former England captain was due to make his debut for a non-league side dubbed the worst in the UK on Saturday at the age of 53.
Longford AFC have lost all of their 20 games this season in the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two after the manager and first team all left.
However, Pearce will have to wait before he pulls on his boots again as Longford's game against Smiths Athletic was called off due to the council-owned pitch being waterlogged.
Pearce, who won 78 England caps and retired from football in 2002, started out with non-league Wealdstone in 1978 while also working as an electrician before going on to play in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, Newcastle and West Ham.
He later went on to manage Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.
