Crewe have released five players but are hoping to tie Byron Moore to a new contract.

Goalkeeper Steve Phillips, defenders Kelvin Mellor and Mark Ellis, midfielder Abdul Osman and forward AJ Leitch-Smith have left Gresty Road. But the club are in talks with winger Moore, who scored four goals in 43 appearances last season, over a new deal. A statement on the club's website read: "Everyone at Crewe Alexandra would like to thank all those players for their outstanding service for the club and wish them every success in their future careers."
