Speculation over Lyon move played down

Panathinaikos have rubbished speculation linking Sotiris Ninis with a move to Lyon. Reports had suggested that Lyon had lodged an offer of 5million euros (£4.1m) with the Greek club for the highly-rated midfielder. Jean-Alain Boumsong recently moved the other way from Lyon but Pana vice-president Dimitris Gontikas insists there were no talks regarding Ninis. "I can tell you with certainty, since I was present during the negotiations with Lyon for Boumsong, that the French team did not ask about Ninis," Gontikas told Athens daily sports newspaper Goal. "I am wondering how this information circulated. Our only negotiations with Lyon was for Boumsong and no other player." Pana have set a transfer fee of 10million euros for the 20-year-old Greece international, who has reportedly attracted interest from Italian clubs Roma, Inter and AC Milan, as well as Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester United.
