Marvin Johnson's stunning strike with five minutes to go saw Oxford see off a spirited Luton 3-2 to reach the Checkatrade Trophy final.
After the hosts had fought back from 2-0 down to level in the 83rd minute, Johnson then slammed his shot into the top corner to break Town's hearts.
Hatters should have taken the lead after just five minutes, Jake Gray's volley drawing a superb save from Simon Eastwood.
Oxford then went ahead in the 10th minute when a prostrate Phil Edwards crashed home from close range.
Luton responded well, with Isaac Vassell narrowly off target, before home goalkeeper Matt Macey denied Chris Maguire and Kane Hemmings, Edwards once more and Chey Dunkley too.
In the second period, Eastwood made a crucial point-blank save from Jordan Cook, while Vassell saw his header kicked off the line by Johnson just after the hour mark.
Oxford moved 2-0 in front in the 70th minute as John Lundstram's effort deflected in off Pelly Ruddock.
Hatters had a goal back after 73 minutes, Vassell netting when Gray's shot was not held, and Danny Hylton made it 2-2 with seven minutes remaining, before Johnson won it.
The Checkatrade Trophy Final will be live on Sky Sports on Sunday April 2.
