Chances galore but no goals at Whaddon Road
Cheltenham and Walsall created a host of chances at Whaddon Road but neither were able to break the deadlock in a goalless stalemate.
In-form Cheltenham made a strong start, forcing Saddlers goalkeeper Clayton Ince into a string of fine saves in the opening exchanges.
Ince denied Lee Ridley, Josh Payne, Barry Hayles and Elvis Hammond early on as the Robins dominated.
But the away side had their share of chances too with Michael Ricketts coming closest when he lobbed a shot against the crossbar.
Walsall hit the woodwork again before the break when Troy Deeney was set up by Ricketts, but his shot struck the foot of a post.
Alex Nicholls could not convert from a good position in the 56th minute and Andy Gallinagh headed Ricketts' header off the line in the 72nd minute, but neither side could find the crucial breakthrough.
