Joe Root will be available for England's first Twenty20 international clash with India in Kanpur, live on Sky Sports 2 HD from 10.30am on Thursday.

Root missed England's consolation win in the final one-day international between the teams in Kolkata on Sunday with a minor niggle but is ready to return for the opening game of the three-match T20 series.

Yorkshire team-mate, David Willey, though will miss the game with a shoulder injury. Willey injured his left shoulder while bowling in that match, and though scans have revealed the injury is not significant, he will not be fit for Thursday.

Sussex left-armer speedster, Tymal Mills, is set replace Willey and play in only his second game for England in a like-for-like bowling change.

Of the changes, England limited-overs captain, Eoin Morgan, said: "Joe has recovered really well, it was just a niggle and a risk we didn't feel we needed to take given it was a bit of a dead rubber.

"It was also a good opportunity for the guys who've sat on the sideline to show the form they're in. Joe is fit for this game.

Captain Eoin Morgan admits he is happy to see fast bowler Tymal Mills back in the England T20 set up.

"David flew in yesterday, missed practice in the morning and he won't be fit for selection.

"Nothing serious showed up on the scan, which is a huge positive because initially it looked quite painful, but he won't be fit for tomorrow's game."

As for India, the hosts have opted to rest leading spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja for the three-match series.

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra and off-break bowler Parvez Rasool have replaced the duo in the 15-man squad.
