Australia head coach Matthew Mott expects the Women’s Ashes series with England to be a fiercely competitive affair.

The series begins at Taunton on Tuesday with the first of three one-day internationals between the two sides, followed by a Test and three Twenty20 Internationals.

England have won the last two Ashes series but Australia have beaten England en route to winning the ICC World T20 and the Women’s Cricket World Cup in recent years.

"Once they step on the field it’s going to be the white line fever that we all expect," Mott told Sky Sports News HQ.

"It will be no holds barred.

"We’re really looking forward to it. We know England are a good a team and I think they respect us as well.

"It’s really going to come down to a couple of key moments and who takes the initiative at the right time in the crunch games."

Mott insists both teams have an abundance of talent and neither side can be regarded as favourites ahead of what is expected to be a very closely contested series.

"Charlotte Edwards is obviously going to be key (for England) but they’ve got a number of good players," he said.

Charlotte Edwards and Meg Lanning speak ahead of the start of the women's Ashes.

"Anya Shrubsole has bowled well for them and Katherine Brunt is back and is apparently bowling quite quickly so they’ve got a number of match-winners, as do we.

"Our mantra is we don’t rely on any one player. We’re a team. We’ve got a squad of 14 players that have come here and will be tested at different teams with our depth but we like to think that is our real strength."
