Carl Froch has warned Tyson Fury against the dangers of adopting a hit-and-run style against Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury weighed in for Saturday's world heavyweight championship fight at the surprisingly light weight of 17st 8lbs, just a pound heavier than Klitschko.

His effort to shrink down closer to the champion's weight indicates that Fury will adopt a subtly fleet-footed approach, says Froch, but that will lead to defeat.

Froch told Sky Sports News HQ: "Looking at the size and weight and the way that he can box and move - he's a younger man - it would seem like the correct thing to do to box and move, and use the ring a lot. I just don't think Tyson can out-box Klitschko.

"He may employ the tactics to try and box but he'll come unstuck and lose the fight. He needs to get close and make it rough.

I don't think he can afford to be on the end of any shots from Klitschko and, by boxing and moving, he'll eventually walk into something.

"If Dr. Steelhammer [Klitschko] lands a big, right hand you know about it. Fury has been on the floor against fighters who hit a lot weaker, they don't hit as hard as Klitschko. He's got back up to win, but he's been over.

"I expected [Fury] to be a lot heavier. Wladimir has come in very lean and athletic."

Froch is concerned that, with Fury travelling into Klitschko's adopted home of Germany for the fight, he faces a tough job convincing the judges to score the fight in his favour.

That is made even more difficult if Fury opts to box from the outside, rather than getting stuck in and trading powerful punches.

"Fury will be thinking a knockout will be great but he's got to convince the judges he's there to win it and land shots," the former world super-middleweight champion said.

"That's difficult because Klitschko is a master boxer - his distance and timing are impeccable and Fury has to get close to him.

"I don't think he can afford to be on the end of any shots from Klitschko and, by boxing and moving, he'll eventually walk into something.

"He's talking like a fan and he's saying he respects what Klitschko does. I don't like that change. He's got to get in there and be aggressive early on because if he tries to box at range, he's going to get beaten."
