Ricky Burns is not giving up on a dream date with Adrien Broner despite the American announcing a different opponent for his next fight.

Broner and Burns have progressed up the weights together, the Scot winning world titles in three separate classes, and both now hold versions of the super-lightweight prize.

Burns' promoter Eddie Hearn was hopeful of delivering Broner in December, but the four-weight world champion will instead take on Adrian Grandados in February.

"The fight is still a possibility but it will not be until midway through next year or something," said Burns, who defended his WBA title with victory over Kiryl Relikh last month.

"I have had a couple of big wins and I would like to keep the momentum going. I wouldn't want to be out of the ring for that length of time.

"Maybe I will get back in Glasgow before flying out to America. I will wait and see what my team are going to get sorted for me. Hopefully I know in the next couple of weeks.

"There has been a lot of interest in it. The [Broner] fight was meant to happen when we were both at super-feather and lightweight, and now up again.

"But there's been a few big names mentioned for me so I wouldn't say it's necessarily going to be Broner in my next fight."

Whoever the opponent, the aim for Burns is a huge night in Las Vegas in 2017, 16 years after his professional career began with a points win over Woody Greenway.

"I fought in Texas before but I have always said I would love to go and fight in Vegas," said Burns. "I've been there on holiday a few times and I don't see the point going anywhere else now. To walk out in one of those venues over there would be a dream come true."
