World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury gave England fans a boost ahead of Monday's match with Iceland by purchasing a 1,000-euro round of drinks in a Nice bar.

The English boxer has announced that he has been forced to postpone his planned rematch with former champion Wladimir Klitschko, which had been scheduled for July 9, due to an ankle injury.

And the 27-year-old has now headed to Nice, where England will take on Iceland in a Euro 2016 round-of-16 clash on Monday night.

He turned up in Nice's historic old town on Sunday, clad in an England jersey and, having led a group of fans into a nearby bar, he proceeded to buy a huge round of Jaegerbombs, which comprise a Jaegermeister mixed with an energy drink.

The heavyweight champ later posted a photo of the 1,000-euro bill, writing: "This is how much I love my fans.

"Euro 2016, 200 jaegerbombs for the fans."

The fans responded with an adapted version of 'Will Grigg's on Fire', the song about the Northern Ireland striker which has captured the imagination at Euro 2016.

"Fury is on fire, Klitschko is terrified," sang the England supporters, before the boxer departed after around 25 minutes.

England fan Andrew Dunn reported: "It's a big, lovely surprise.

"He's an absolutely amazing champion and for him to hang out with the ordinary people like this and be friendly and get us a drink is wonderful.

"I love him to bits and hope he retains the championship the next time he fights."
