Promoter Eddie Hearn says "terms have virtually been agreed" for a September fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Gennady Golovkin in London.
Eubank Jr has promised to put on a 'hell of a show' against Tom Doran live on Sky Sports Box Office this Saturday and has reiterated his desire for a world title fight with WBC, WBA Super and IBF middleweight champion Golovkin later this year.
The 26-year-old defends his British middleweight title against Doran on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's IBF heavyweight title bout with Dominic Breazeale at The O2.
And if Eubank Jr does prevail on Saturday night it looks like he may get his wish to go toe-to-toe with the man holding the highest knockout percentage - over 91 per cent - in middleweight championship history.
Hearn told Sky Sports: "There's been lots of conversations, contracts have been drafted, terms have virtually been agreed.
"Obviously Eubank has his own fight to take care of on Saturday night and I think although he is strong favourite he should not overlook Tom Doran; it's a huge opportunity for him too.
"There's a few things to tie up but basically if everyone wants this fight then it's all there to sign. If Golovkin really wants this fight, and I believe he does, and if Eubank wants the fight, which he does, then there's a real chance of that fight happening in London in the autumn.
"I think it would be a stadium fight. I think there would be the demand for 40-50,000 tickets. There is something nice about being in an arena but as we saw at Goodison Park [for Tony Bellew v Ilunga Makabu], you can guarantee a great atmosphere outdoors too."
When pressed as to whether Golovkin's camp would be happy to come to London, Hearn replied: "Yes, 100 per cent."
Unbeaten Golovkin's latest knockout win - his 32nd in 35 fights - came against Dominic Wade in April, while Eubank Jr takes a record of 22-1-KO17 into his fight with Doran
