Amir Khan remains hopeful of facing Manny Pacquiao in a spring showdown after revealing his team are still in negotiations with the multiple-division world champion.

Khan believes he is the front-runner to face Pacquiao in what is expected to be the Filipino's final fight on April 9.

Pacquiao has not fought since undergoing shoulder surgery following his points' defeat to pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather in May.

The 36-year-old claimed last week he was still hopeful of tempting Mayweather out of retirement before hanging up his gloves to pursue a political career.

Khan previously said he had pulled out of talks with Pacquiao, but the former WBA and IBF super-lightweight champion revealed on a trip to India that negotiations with his former stablemate are ongoing.

"Talks are going really well," Khan told The Hindu. "They [Pacquiao's team] are speaking to my team, I have just left it to my team.

"I fight anybody who is brought in front of me. If it's Manny Pacquiao, it's Manny Pacquiao. If not, then somebody else.

"But we are still waiting for a response on what's going to happen. That's why I took a little break and came to India - just to get away from all that because negotiating for a fight is not easy."

WBO super-lightweight champion Terence Crawford is also in the frame to face Pacquiao, who boasts 57 victories in 65 fights, while undefeated IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook still wants to face Khan in a battle of Britain clash.
